How your super can work as an income
Fear can make your super balance feel like something you should leave untouched. That you’ll regret spending it. That it’s safer to leave it where it is.
But your super was built to support your retirement. Your income could come from a few places, like your super, the Age Pension if you’re eligible, and other savings or investments. When you understand how those pieces can work together, using your super can feel less like a risk and more like a plan.
What could retirement income help cover?
-
The everyday essentials
Retirement income can help cover the regular costs that keep life moving, like groceries, bills, transport and healthcare.
-
The bigger plans
It can also help make room for the things you’ve been looking forward to. That could be a long-awaited trip, a home project, a new hobby, or simply more time doing what matters to you.
-
The unexpected costs
Life after work can still come with surprises, from repairs and medical bills to helping family when they need it. Having income from different sources may give you more flexibility when plans change.
-
The life you’ve been saving for
Your super wasn’t only built to sit there. It was built to help support the life you’ve worked hard for. Retirement income can give you more choice in how you spend your time, and more confidence using what you’ve built.
