    Who we are

AMP has a long history of helping our customers manage their finances and achieve their goals.

We were founded 170 years ago on a simple yet bold idea: that financial security enabled people to live with dignity. Our founding purpose was captured by the Latin motto: Amicus Certus In Re Incerta – A sure friend in uncertain times. This deep commitment to helping clients continues and is articulated in our purpose statement today – Realise human ambitions.

AMP is a wealth management company with a growing retail banking business and an expanding international investment management business. We provide retail clients with financial advice and superannuation, retirement income, banking and investment products. AMP also provides corporate superannuation products and services for workplace super and self-managed superannuation funds (SMSFs).

For institutional clients we provide investment management services across a range of asset classes, both in Australia and globally.

    What we do

Australians and New Zealanders know us best for superannuation, , investments and advice, but we’re growing fast in retail banking in Australia, and internationally with strong partnerships in China and Japan and investments around the world.

We seek to provide whole-of-wealth services to Australians, taking a holistic view of a client’s needs at every stage of their life, and providing best of breed financial solutions.

Our solutions seek to the address the ‘big five’ financial requirements affecting most Australians – managing cash flows, managing debts, growing assets, enjoying retirement and protecting their family’s future.

    • Sold businesses

AMP Limited sold its life insurance business, AMP Life, to Resolution Life, on 30 June 2020 completing a key priority in AMP Limited’s transformation strategy. Importantly, as part of the sale all clients’ terms and conditions remained unchanged. AMP retains a 20 per cent equity stake in Resolution Life Australia.

While AMP no longer sells new AMP insurance products, we continue to advise clients on life insurance as well as provide insurance through our superannuation funds from a range of insurance providers.

    Our 2020 - 2022 strategy

We’re looking to reinvent AMP as a company that is client-led, simpler and growth-oriented.

    We will:

    • exit AMP Life to focus on high growth and high return businesses
    • reinvent Wealth Management
    • continue to grow AMP Capital and AMP Bank
    • simplify the company and reduce cost
    • reinvigorate our culture to be more client-focused, entrepreneurial and accountable.
