NMLA to AMP Life

An update to NMLA policies

We want to let you know that we’re seeking to transfer the Australian and New Zealand life insurance business of The National Mutual Life Association of Australasia Limited (NMLA) to AMP Life Limited (AMP Life) under an arrangement known as a Scheme, to be confirmed by the Federal Court of Australia (Court). Under the proposed transfer the NMLA policies will be treated as if they had been issued and administered by AMP Life rather than NMLA.

Why we’re proposing the transfer

Five years ago NMLA became part of the AMP group following our merger with AXA. We’re now proposing this transfer to help simplify how we manage and administer policies.

What this means for policy owners

NMLA and AMP Life policy owners don’t need to do anything.

Other than a change to the insurer of NMLA policies and the statutory fund to which your policy will be referable, the proposed transfer will not result in any changes to policy terms and conditions, or how the policy is administered.

For AMP Life policy owners there is no change. We’ll continue to look after your financial needs the same way we always have.

To find out more, including an affected policy owner’s right to be heard by the Court on the Scheme, we’d encourage you to read the frequently asked questions and transfer documents below.

How the transfer process works

There are several steps in the process to transfer from NMLA to AMP Life, including receiving confirmation by the Court, which we aim to have completed by the end of the year.  We’ll update this site with the outcome of the proposed transfer.

You’ll find more details about the transfer process and how it works in the Scheme summary.
