Commencing as a financial planner in November 2000, Matthew has provided strategic financial advice with a particular focus on maximising opportunities for people in the pre-retirement and retirement planning space by dealing with their superannuation and retirement income streams, constructing investment portfolios and ensuring assets and lifestyle are protected.

Significant importance is placed on listening to people and understanding what they are hoping to achieve to meet their lifestyle goals before tailoring strategies and investments around them. These strategies draw on Matthew’s extensive background in superannuation, retirement planning, investment classes and themes, tax and social security.

Over the last 10 years, Matthew has previously worked as a self-employed financial planner for AMP Financial Planning Pty Ltd as well as in the remediation of financial planning advice on behalf of a large financial institution. Since November 2020 Matthew has worked for AMP Advice Barton to improve financial futures.

Matthew derives satisfaction from giving people the peace of mind that comes from knowing they are making the most of their financial resources and the opportunities available to them, which is steering them to a more certain financial future.

Outside of the office, Matthew enjoys gardening, cycling and spending time with the family.

Why financial advice?

I have seen many people over the years not taking advantage of the financial opportunities available to them.  It gives me a great deal of pleasure to be employed in a field in which I can improve my client’s financial outcomes.

What’s your goal?

In my spare time I like to ride the trails around the ACT on a mountain bike or go hiking and camping in the mountains.

Advanced Diploma in Financial Planning
Diploma in Financial Services

Patrick has worked for a variety of institutions over the past decade, including boutique financial planning firms, the big four banks, industry super funds and large financial planning organisations. Having first joined AMP in 2014, Patrick has most recently been afforded the opportunity to lead the Private Client Advisers throughout Victoria, ACT and Southern NSW.

Patrick loves working in financial planning. He has been fortunate enough to work across a number of different organisations in a range of roles. Patrick has found that no matter where you work, or in what capacity, the best of us are all trying to achieve the same thing; Place as many Australians as we can in their best possible position.

Patrick’s wife tells him he has three great passions in life: family, work and football. As she knows him better than he knows himself, he’ll have to agree. When he is not at work he is usually carting one of his three children to their various activities or staying true to his passions and watching the Melbourne Football Club or Liverpool in the Premier League.
