Superannuation benefits are for super purposes only and not any other employer ETP.

Termination is not due to redundancy, invalidity, death or under an Approved Early Retirement Scheme.

The Superannuation benefits tax is calculated using the tax rates effective from 1 July 2018 with a low cap rate amount and includes a Medicare Levy of 2%.

If you are over your preservation age, there is no prior usage of the tax free threshold.

All of the taxable component comes from a taxed source.

Superannuation benefits are assumed to be paid as a lump sum.

Lump sum components are treated under new legislation effective July 2018 as 'Tax free' and 'Taxable' components.

The taxable component is tax free up to the low rate cap amount of $205,000 effective 1 July 2018.

The taxable component is taxed at 22% if you are under your preservation age, 17% if you are over your preservation age and less than age 60, tax free you if you are age 60 and over. These rates include a Medicare Levy of 2%.
