How do I open an AMP Bett3r Account (Bett3r)?
Visit amp.com.au/bett3r and click on the Apply button, then follow the prompts.
Can I access Bett3r on all mobile devices?
To manage your Bett3r account, you’ll need to download the AMP Bett3r app. This is only available on smartphones using iOS or Android operating systems (it is not available on other devices). If you just want to see your account balances without transacting, you can also do this in My AMP.
Will I get a card to access money in my Spend account?
You’ll receive a Bett3r Spend Visa Debit card for your Spend account. This should arrive within 7-10 days of opening your account. Select CRD or SAV buttons or tap your card to access money in Spend.
Will I get a card to access money in my Pay account?
Your Pay account doesn’t automatically come with a Visa Debit card. If you’d like one, call us on 13 30 30 and we’ll organise it for you. If you’ve switched to Bett3r from an existing AMP account, be sure to read the FAQs in that section.
Will I get a card to access money in my Save account?
To help you reach your savings goals, your Save account doesn’t come with a Visa Debit card. If you want to access this money, you’ll need to transfer it to Pay to pay a Bill you have set up, or Spend to make a purchase.
Can I transfer money from Bett3r to a non-AMP account?
You can transfer money to external accounts including offset accounts directly from Pay, Save or Spend. Scheduled or recurring payments are not allowed on the Save account.

What rewards are available on Bett3r?

What interest rates are available on Bett3r (not including Bett3r Offset)?
You’ll receive standard interest rates on money in Pay and Save. If you deposit at least $2,000 each month into Pay from a source other than one of your AMP accounts, you’ll also receive a bonus interest rate on money in Save.The bonus rate is available on balances up to $100,000.

What interest rates are available on Bett3r Offset?
If you have a Bett3r Offset account, your balance of Pay, Save and Spend is offset against your home loan balance to help reduce interest on your loan. So you don’t earn credit interest on this account.
How much does Bett3r cost?
If you have a Bett3r deposit Account, a $6 Monthly Account Management Fee applies, however you can enjoy banking with no monthly fees. Just deposit at least $2000 into your Pay account each month from an external source other than another AMP Bank account (such as your salary), and you’ll skip the $6 monthly fee.
If you have a Bett3r Offset Account and it is linked to a Basic Home loan account there is a $6 Monthly Fee applicable to your Bett3r Pay account.

Why has money moved from Spend to Pay?
When Bett3r sees that there isn’t enough money in Pay to cover upcoming bills, it will pull money across from Spend. This could happen for a number of reasons, such as late income or the addition of new bills into Pay.

If I transfer money to Pay where does it go?
Bett3r will use the money you transfer to Pay towards any bills or savings goals you have this cycle. Whatever is left will be transferred to Spend. If you need to transfer funds to Pay for a bill, make sure you have set your bill up first.
Why does my salary leave my Pay account as soon as it arrives?
If you haven’t set up any bills or goals, your salary will be sent to Spend. Once you’re set up, Bett3r holds money in Pay for bills, then transfers contributions for the goals you’ve set up to Save. Anything that’s not needed will be sent to Spend.
What is transaction matching?
Transaction matching is when a financial transaction is matched to an expected income or bill. Generally, Bett3r uses the information you provide to automatically do this. Sometimes you need to manually match them.
How do I manually match a transaction that wasn’t automatically matched?
Sometimes Bett3r doesn’t have enough information to automatically match a transaction. In this case, you’ll see a blue transaction on your Pay screen. You’ll need to click on the blue transaction and match it to an expected bill or income. Bett3r will use this information to help automatically match the transaction next time.
Why is it important for bill payments to be matched?
Matching transactions to expected bills is how Bett3r knows whether or not bills have been paid. For example, if you paid a $200 electricity bill but the transaction wasn’t matched, Bett3r would think the bill hadn’t been paid. This means Bett3r would keep holding this money in Pay to cover the expected bill. Once the payment is matched to the expected bill, Bett3r will stop holding money for it.
Why is it important for income payments to be matched?
Matching income transactions to expected income is how Bett3r knows whether or not your income has been received. This means Bett3r will know how much of that money to keep in Pay to cover your bills. If your income payment isn’t matched to an expected income, Bett3r will treat this as an unexpected bonus and transfer it to Spend. This means there wouldn’t be enough money in Pay to cover your bills.
Why has one of my bills been dishonoured or not paid when there is money in my Spend account?
There are three ways this could happen:
- If you haven’t told Bett3r about that bill, it doesn’t know to move money from Spend to Pay to cover it.
- If the bill was higher than expected, Bett3r wouldn’t have known to move the additional amount from Spend to Pay.
- If you transfer money from Save to Spend, Bett3r holds this money in Spend as it thinks you may want to spend it. You need to transfer directly from Save to Pay to cover bills.
Why has one of my bills been dishonoured or not paid when there is money in my Save account?
To protect your savings, Bett3r will only top up Pay from Spend. Bett3r doesn’t move money from Save, so you would need to do this manually. It is best to transfer directly from Save to Pay to cover bills.

You can transfer the money in Save to Pay or Spend and access it from there.
Will my money in Save be used to cover bills if I’m not on track?
To protect your savings, Bett3r will only top up Pay from Spend. Bett3r doesn’t move money from Save, so you would need to do this manually.
Switching an existing AMP account to Bett3r
How do I switch my existing AMP account to Bett3r?
Firstly, check that your account can be switched to Bett3r. Start your application, choose the current customer option then follow the prompts. If you’re already set up for My AMP, login for a quicker application. Otherwise you’ll need to have your account number handy.
What do I need to know before switching?
To help you budget, your Bett3r account is made up of three linked accounts – Pay, Save, Spend. Your old AMP account will become your Bett3r Pay account. When you login to the Bett3r app you’ll activate your account. The app will step you through how to set up your account, including entering bills in your Pay account. If you don’t set up your bills at that time, Bett3r will think this money is safe to spend and transfer it to your Spend account. You’ll receive your Bett3r Spend card within 7-10 days.
If you can’t access your money, call us on 13 30 30 and we’ll help on the spot. Or login to the Bett3r app, select manage and set up a Debit card allowance. As long as there’s enough money in your Spend account, this will be transferred back to your Pay account. Then use your old Visa Debit card to access it.
How long does the switch take?
Your account will usually be switched within two working days, unless we need more information from you. You’ll receive your new Bett3r Spend card within 7-10 days.
Can I still access money in my old account once I switch?
Your current account will change to a Bett3r Pay account. So your money will still be there. Depending on how you set up your Bett3r account, some money may be transferred to your Spend account. Be sure to read what do I need to know before switching?
Will my account details change?
Your account simply becomes a Bett3r Pay account. The product name will change, but your BSB and account number stay the same.
What happens to my direct debits and scheduled payments?
Your bank details don’t change, so you won’t need to update them with any direct debit billers. Remember to set up these bills in Pay so Bett3r knows to hold the money aside. If you have an AMP home loan direct debit or any scheduled payments, these will automatically be set up as bills in Pay once you login to the Bett3r app.
Will direct debits be honoured during the switching process period?
Yes, as long as you have sufficient money in Pay. If you don’t, Bett3r will pull money across from Spend if there’s enough there. To protect your savings, Bett3r won’t transfer money from Save.
Do I need to close my original account?
No, this becomes your Bett3r Pay account.
Can I still use my Visa Debit card once I switch?
Yes, provided there is money in Pay. Be sure to read what do I need to know before switching?
Can I use the same PIN number for my Bett3r account?
You can keep using your Visa Debit card with the same PIN to access your Pay account. You’ll receive a new Bett3r Spend card for your Spend account. This will come with its own PIN. You can choose to change your PIN using the Bett3r app.
