About us

Who we are

We have been helping clients with their finances since we were founded as ipac in 1983. Today we’re backed by the strength of AMP and have offices throughout Australia.

We talk a lot about goals because, to us, financial advice is more than just numbers. It’s about helping people live better lives and reach their potential.

Everyone has goals but getting started on them is often the hardest step. So we’ve made that easy with our innovative goals explorer technology – a fresh way to look at your goals. Once you’re clear about your goals, our financial advisers create a plan to track and help you achieve your goals.

You’re at the centre of every conversation. We’re here to listen and understand what’s important for you. We’re upfront about how we work and our costs, so you’ll never be surprised by extra fees or hidden charges.

Our team of expert advisers includes specialists in investment strategy, super, retirement, insurance, personal injury and redundancy.

We look forward to helping you with your goals.

Our financial planning expertise

Everyone is unique. What’s important to you and what’s important to someone else are two completely different things. So spend time understanding what you truly want out of life and we’ll tailor a financial plan to help you achieve it.

Our financial advisers provide financial advice in areas to help you:

  • plan your retirement
  • safeguard your future
  • make the most of super
  • thrive in retirement
  • invest for the long-term
  • transfer wealth to the next generation
  • deal with a life changing event such as divorce or redundancy
  • organise aged care

But as we all know life doesn’t fit into neat little boxes, and doesn’t always go the way we planned. That is why we model a range of scenarios from best case to worst case and help you make the right choices for your unique situation.

Our financial advice goes beyond the technical aspects of investing, super and tax planning – covering the unexpected, the individual, and all the little nuances that make your life different. And, that makes you, you.

Meet our team

At AMP Advice Docklands, our team stands out for their commitment to walk the journey with you.

We won’t set you off on a journey alone or with unrealistic or unclear goals. Once your priorities are set, we’ll make sure everything is in place for you to meet your goals, and we’ll be there to help as your situation and needs evolve.

Greg Weiland

Private Client Adviser

Bachelor of Business (Accounting)
Advanced Diploma of Financial Services
Certified Practising Accountant (CPA) (Financial Planning Specialist)
Certified Financial Planner (CFP®)

Greg joined AMP Advice Docklands in January 2012. Prior to this, he spent over 20 years in the financial services industry in both Australia and overseas, previously as an Accountant, including the last eleven years in financial planning.

Greg has had a diverse, varied work history along the journey then spent twelve years overseas based in London throughout the 1990’s and early 2000’s. Upon returning, he got involved in a business start-up, visited his share of wealth creation/ personal development seminars and actively traded the stock market with various degrees of success before re-building his life and essentially starting again and committing to a career in the financial planning space. Many sacrifices have been made along the way as he sought roles that built on and aligned well with his core beliefs. Greg would like to think he has learnt a lot along the way and have considerable life experience, good perspective, a curious and inquisitive nature and a strong desire to help people and try and make a difference in everything he does.

Why financial advice?

Greg believes that this is a vehicle that fits in well with his skill sets, beliefs and life experiences and enables him to channel what he’s learnt along the way into real transferable benefits for people. In his opinion, a big part of defining what a good life is, comes down to the quality of the relationships and experiences one has, and feels fortunate that he loves what he does, and his role enables him to connect, provide value and potentially make a difference in people's lives. Greg believes that money is not the be-all and end all and that it’s just a tool to help you get what you want in life.

The world today is an increasingly chaotic and unpredictable place and people are looking for wise counsel and someone who can provide insights, apply discipline and accountability in helping avoid mistakes and to help them engage in the right financial behaviours and keep them on track, even when they have those unexpected surprises.  He sees my role in part with some clients as that of a coach to try and unlock their potential success by helping them engage in financial behaviour change.

What are their goals?

Greg’s main goal is to be authentic and try and help people make good decisions about money. More specifically, he wants his client’s lives to be better, both in a material sense but also emotionally in terms of providing more certainty and peace of mind as a result of having worked with him. That value can take many forms, be it reducing complexity; helping bring order to their financial lives; helping them follow through on their financial commitments; educating and explaining the options and risks associated with each choice; bringing insights to help them avoid emotionally driven decisions in important money matters and being available to consult at key moments of decision making.

If clients are prepared to be open, Greg likes to go deeper and explore what the money is for and determining their way and helping set the right goals for them and then focus on the things they can control and on trying to live their best life.

Greg is seeking to attain returns that provide peace of mind and maximise their chances of achieving what's most important to them. It's not just about ensuring they are not just in the right investments, but also delivering financial advice that is relevant to their entire lives. It's about engaging clients in helping them take control of their financial lives with clarity and confidence.

Ideally, Greg seeks to educate and take the time to help clients connect how he is investing their money with their goals and seeks to offer some insights about the consequences of their choices around money.   Greg sees his role in providing help in educating clients in determining how much money they will need in retirement or to achieve a certain goal, how long it will last and how much risk they should take with their assets.

Daniel Menzel

Client Adviser

Certificate IV Financial Services
Bachelor of Commerce (Financial Planning and Marketing)
Masters of Financial Planning
Certified Financial Planner (CFP®) (currently completing)

Daniel is originally from a country town in South West Victoria, and started a career in Accounting before being offered a Cadetship in Financial Planning with WHK. Whilst working in Financial Planning and completing his Bachelor’s Degree, Daniel also ran his own tennis coaching business for 7 years in South West Victoria coaching State and International Juniors.

Deciding to progress his career further, Daniel moved to Melbourne and commenced work with ipac securities in 2012. During his time at ipac, Daniel has progressed through 4 roles: Client Relationship Manager, Para planner, Associate Adviser and now Client Adviser. Through this time he has finished a Bachelor’s Degree, Masters of Financial Planning (being the first person to complete the Master’s program with Kaplan in the space of a year) and currently completing a Certified Financial Planners course of which fewer than 2.5% of CFP holders are under the age of 30. Daniel’s role as an adviser here at ipac is managing new relationships to the business, identifying a need in those that require financial advice and guiding clients through the advice process.

Why financial advice?

After starting in Accounting, Daniel found it more satisfying educating and guiding clients through the advice process as personal circumstances change as people move different life stages. Clients genuinely have a need for financial advice and the process of identifying a client’s goals and developing a strategy to keep them on track to meet these goals is fulfilling part of the process. Being able to educate clients along the way so they better understand the advice and adjusting strategies to align with changes in personal circumstances is something which Daniel enjoys.

What are their goals?

As Daniel grows, his goals have become more focussed. Daniel wanted to purchase his first home and did this in April 2015; it’s now safe to say he has joined the many in the world of managing a large debt position. His main goal is and always has been since year 10 was to progress in Financial Planning and educate himself the best way possible. Daniel is now at the tail end of his education and joins a small percentage of financial planners having such qualifications. Developing his financial planning knowledge has meant that he have been able to educate and provide the most valuable advice to his clients. He still enjoys tennis and remains active within the Donvale Tennis Club and Currawong Tennis Club playing competitions. Being a country boy, he still enjoys going home to help on the family farm when possible and a hobby of building custom motorcycles.
