About us

Who we are

We have been helping clients with their finances since we were founded as ipac in 1983. Today we're backed by the strength of AMP and have offices throughout Australia.

We talk a lot about goals because, to us, financial advice is more than just numbers. It's about helping people live better lives and reach their potential.

Everyone has goals but getting started on them is often the hardest step. So we've made that easy with our innovative goals explorer technology – a fresh way to look at your goals. Once you're clear about your goals, our financial advisers create a plan to track and help you achieve your goals.

You're at the centre of every conversation. We're here to listen and understand what's important for you. We're upfront about how we work and our costs, so you'll never be surprised by extra fees or hidden charges.

Our team of expert advisers includes specialists in investment strategy, super, retirement, insurance, personal injury and redundancy.  We look forward to helping you with your goals.

Our financial planning expertise

Everyone is unique. What's important to you and what's important to someone else are two completely different things. So we spend time understanding what you truly want out of life and we'll tailor a financial plan to help you achieve it.

Our financial advisers provide financial advice in areas to help you:

  • plan your retirement
  • safeguard your future
  • make the most of super
  • thrive in retirement
  • invest for the long-term
  • transfer wealth to the next generation
  • deal with a life changing event such as divorce or redundancy
  • organise aged care
  • But as we all know life doesn't fit into neat little boxes, and doesn't always go the way we planned. That is why we model a range of scenarios from best case to worst case and help you make the right choices for your unique situation.
  • Our financial advice goes beyond the technical aspects of investing, super and tax planning – covering the unexpected, the individual, and all the little nuances that make your life different. And, that makes you, you.

Meet our team

At AMP Advice Chatswood our team stands out for their commitment to walk the journey with you.
We won't set you off on a journey alone or with unrealistic or unclear goals. Once your priorities are set, we'll make sure everything is in place for you to meet your goals, and we'll be there to help as your situation and needs evolve.

Simon Wilson

Associate Adviser

Representative of ipac

Bachelor of Commerce (Accounting and Finance)
Bachelor of Law
Diploma of Financial Planning
Member of the Financial Planning Association of Australia (FPA)

Simon has worked in financial services since finishing tertiary education in 1983.  Starting his working life with an investment bank, Simon has broad financial and commercial experience, having had roles in credit and lending, project and structured finance, aircraft financing, infrastructure financing and procurement, and more general financial advisory and risk advisory mostly for "big ticket" assets.  Simon has worked on the "buy" as well as the "sell" side of financial services, and has managed teams and business units.

With two adult children, and after 18 years with his previous employer, in 2015 Simon decided it was a good time for a career change.

After completing his Diploma in Financial Planning, Simon joined AMP Advice Chatswood in May 2016 as an Associate Adviser, assisting Private Client Advisers.

Balance is important to Simon, and out of work Simon tries to keep fit and healthy.  He is active in golf, swimming, tennis, yoga, and skiing.  He enjoys time with family and friends, and other interests including travel, food, and wine.

Simon had been researching and considering his own financial planning options and estate planning.  He contacted a former colleague who was a veteran financial planner (as it happens, with AMP Advice).  Aware he was looking for a new career challenge, this friend encouraged Simon to consider financial planning and arranged an introduction with a Client Services Manager, so Simon could better understand a potential financial planning role and career path.  Simon was quickly convinced he had found a new work option.

Providing financial planning advice will allow Simon to lever off his previous work and life experiences, and his newly acquired and continuing financial planning knowledge, to assist clients in understanding their financial position, and options, strategies, and products available to help them achieve their personal and financial goals.

Simon is steadily increasing his financial planning knowledge and skills through the on-the-job training the Associate Adviser role provides, and also through additional external course work.  Once fully trained up, Simon is looking to transition to a fully-fledged financial adviser, gaining his own client portfolio, where he is keen to build and develop trusted personal advisory relationships.  Simon is looking forward to providing specific and direct assistance to individuals and families, and working with clients on their ongoing financial issues and their general financial health.
