AMP’s corporate venture fund AMP New Ventures invests in and partners with early-stage technology businesses that are building transformative or disruptive technologies and business models in financial services and adjacent markets to where AMP operates. Jonathan Deane

Chief Innovation Officer

Jonathan is the Chief Innovation Officer at AMP. His key responsibilities include building AMP’s Human Centred Design (HCD) capabilities and overseeing AMP's corporate venturing activities. As the lead of AMP New Ventures he aims to accelerate the company’s growth and innovation strategy, focusing on venture investing, sponsorship of the ecosystem, and bringing a startup mentality to the enterprise. Jonathan also looks to partner with and influence business units across the organisation to support our portfolio companies as well as discover and launch new growth initiatives within the business. Jonathan has been with AMP since 2000 having originally joined its UK based asset management subsidiary Henderson Global Investors. Prior to this he spent 10 years in investment banking and venture capital working extensively across financial services.

Jonathan holds a Bachelor of Science (Hons) in Psychology, an MBA from Ashridge and is a graduate of Stanford Design School.

Alfred Lo

Head of AMP New Ventures

Alfred joined AMP in 2015 as Head of AMP New Ventures where he leads AMP’s local and international corporate venture capital activities. He brings over two decades of operational, entrepreneurial and investment experience to his role. Alfred previously lead Singtel Innov8's corporate venture capital activities in Australia (Optus-Innov8) and has been involved in the startup ecosystem as a founder, investor and advisor since 2000. Prior to Optus, Alfred founded a location-based advertising startup and was General Manager of Australian cleantech hardware startup Rainpure. During his career, Alfred has held various strategy and consulting roles at PwC, EDS and Austcorp. In addition to his role at AMP, Alfred is a mentor with accelerator programs including Startmate, Incubate and Springboard and has been recognised as one of Australia’s Top 50 startup influencers.

Alfred holds an MBA from the Australian Graduate School of Business (AGSM), a Bachelor of Commerce with Merit from UNSW and is a Chartered Accountant.

Tom McCutcheon

Head of Technology Innovation

Tom is the Head of Technology Innovation at AMP and is tasked with sourcing, experimenting, and driving business value from new technologies. Tom brings over 15 years of technical experience to AMP New Ventures and is instrumental in scanning first, second and third horizon technology frontiers and assessing their potential to reshape AMP’s core business and financial services more broadly. By leveraging the capabilities within AMP and his knowledge of technology trends and their implications Tom helps our portfolio companies in their pursuit to shift the paradigm in their respective industries. Tom has held numerous roles at AMP since joining in 1999, including responsibility for IT architecture during the merger of AMP and AXA. As part of his current role Tom is highly active within the tech and startup ecosystem and is a regular attendee of domestic and international tech conferences on behalf of both AMP New Ventures and in his capacity as Head of Technology Innovation for the AMP Group.

Rob Dunn

Senior Manager - Ventures

As a Senior Manager within AMP New Ventures Rob helps to identify and screen investment and partnership opportunities with early stage startup businesses as well as support our portfolio companies. Joining AMP in 2010, Rob has worked in a diverse range of business areas before joining AMP New Ventures in 2016, including CFO/COO at MoneyBrilliant, AMP’s Design & Innovation practice, and various Banking Product and Operations divisions. Rob was trained at Boston’s Continuum Innovation as a qualified Human Centred Design (HCD) Practitioner. Prior to AMP he worked in risk management and assurance at PwC. Outside his role at AMP, Rob mentors at UTS’s incubator program Hatchery+ and at the Sydney fintech Startup Weekend.

Rob holds a Bachelor of Business from the University of Technology Sydney and is a Chartered Accountant.

Camilla Goucher

Senior Manager - Ventures

Camilla is a founding member of AMP New Ventures. She is responsible for helping portfolio companies succeed and leverage the strategic benefits of having AMP as an investor. Before moving into AMP New Ventures in 2013, Camilla worked in AMP’s Group Strategy team, where she drove a strategy for AMP’s transition to becoming a customer-centric and agile organisation. Prior to AMP Camilla held various strategy and consulting roles at PwC. Camilla is a mentor at Stone and Chalk.

Camilla holds a Master of International Economics and Finance and a Bachelor of International Relations from the University of Queensland.

Daniel Wypler

Investment Associate

Daniel joined AMP New Ventures as an Investment Associate in 2016. Previously Daniel worked for H2 Ventures focusing primarily on Australian and US fintech investments. Daniel started his career as an FX Trader for Gain Capital; working in New York, London, and Sydney. He brings diverse experience to the team having worked on both sides of the table, he has founded multiple companies, most recently a VC backed fintech in Australia focusing on currency rates for travellers. Daniel is highly active in the ecosystem as a mentor at UTS’s incubator program Hatchery+, the H2 Accelerator, and various startup weekends.

Daniel attended Rutgers University in the United States and studied Environmental Business Economics.

Justin Liang

Investment Analyst

Justin is an Analyst at AMP New Ventures where he assesses investment opportunities and covers frontier tech trends. In 2011, whilst at university Justin built a music events company for university students which he later sold, and has since served in multiple sales and finance roles including AMP’s M&A and Operations divisions.

Justin holds a Bachelor of Economics from UNSW.

Jeronimo Harrison

Investment Analyst

Jeronimo is an engineer at heart and is passionate about new technologies reshaping the way services and products are delivered. He commenced his career at Telstra in their Global Enterprise and Services business unit that provides technical solutions to multi-nationals. Following this Jeronimo pivoted into financial services joining AMP in their Insurance and Superannuation division before later moving into the AMP New Ventures team as an Analyst in 2016.

Jeronimo holds a Bachelor of Mechanical Engineering (Hons. Class 1) and Commerce from the University of Sydney.
